Pearl Lam Galleries announces YINKA SHONIBARE MBE (RA)’s solo exhibition “Wilderness into a garden” at Daegu Art Museum (30/5–18/10/2015)

Daegu Art Museum in Korea opens British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare MBE (RA)’s largest museum solo show in Asia on 30 May, which will showcase the artist’s wide range of art. The exhibition will feature approximately 80 pieces, including sculptures, two-dimensional works, installations, and video works, which are categorised into six sub-themes: money, play, empire, conflict, environment, and love. Daegu Art Museum has paid special attention to Shonibare’s works since the topics he raises such as colonialism, post-colonialism, globalisation, and cultural identity are universal and inextricably bound with Korea’s historical and cultural contexts.
