SHANGHAI—Gallerist Pearl Lam is thrilled to announce the opening of 70 Square Metres, her new gallery at 41 Hengshan Road that will house artist residency programmes and provide an opportunity for emerging non-residency artists to exhibit their work. Located in the historic former French Concession, the new space represents Lam’s ongoing dedication to nurturing creativity and promoting underrepresented voices while fostering cross-cultural dialogue and understanding. Lam believes that art transcends borders with its ability to communicate with people all over the world.

Ahead of the inaugural artist residency exhibition later this autumn, the gallery presents the group show A Closer Look, featuring the works of 11 international artists in their 20s and 30s from or with ties to Africa. The exhibition offers an intriguing exploration of individual and societal consciousness, an inevitable duality underlying human disposition, world outlook, and conduct.
