Hong Kong Tatler has published an interview with Pearl Lam Galleries artist Qiu Deshu about his solo exhibition in Pearl Lam Galleries Hong Kong Pedder Building space. Night and Day: The Art of Qiu Deshu, 1979 and After is the Qiu Deshu‘s first solo exhibition in Pearl Lam Galleries.
Qiu Deshu was born and brought up in Shanghai. After Cultural Revolution, he founded the Grass Grass Group. Night and Day refers to the complementary relationship of Yin and Yang. Night and Day is the latest solo exhibition from Qiu Deshu, charting his expansive career to date, with both his recent and historical works. The artist has played an important role in Chinese art throughout the years, having been the driving force behind one of the early movements of independent art in a post-Mao era through a group he co-founded, The Grass Grass Group.
