Exhibition Date: September 1st——October 31st
This new exhibition and commissioned installation further explores my studio practice investigating pop culture, craft, ritual, beauty, spirituality, and identity and its relationship to art history, subculture, appropriation and the institution. The use and mix of op, psychedelic and kinetic visual to the interaction of form and color has opened the exploration of perception for the viewer. Tunnel Vision directly engages the relationship between sculpture, color and sound to create a unique visual experience that actively engages the viewer, and at times, triggering optical sensations of vibration and movement.
The custom BMW Z4 is entirely hand painted and covered in brilliant Pearlized clear coat that allows the colors on the vehicle to change as the viewer walks around work. The whole interior was painstakingly covered in felt, sequins and quartz crystals accenting every functional element. A custom chandelier made of fabric sits between driver and passenger. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the work by selecting and singing along with friends one of 60,000international songs programmed in the video karaoke machine located in the trunk of the car.
