As the world’s first biennale focusing on art and technology, the Beijing Art and Technology Biennale (BATB) aims to establish a global platform for dialogue between art and technology, and explore profound issues concerning humanity, technology, and the future through emerging media such as digital technology. Themed “Earthwise”, the second edition of the biennale will be held at the Qihao Art Museum from October 26, 2024, to February 23, 2025.

A.A. Murakami’s work, Under a Flowing Field, emerges in a blue void with lightning-like white lines and mist resonating with glass, blending physical and chemical methods reminiscent of nature, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in multiple natural environments that expose multiple subjects.

In the age of mechanical reproduction, the “here and now” (Dasein) of artworks, which Benjamin referred to as “aura,” is gradually diminishing. However, digital technology, as an “exteriorization of organs,” extends the boundaries of human perception, enabling the human subject to become an intermediary connecting all things in the universe, allowing “inherent spirituality” to be born and emerge. From the perspective of superluminal stars, “inherent spirituality” can be understood as the inherent life force, energy, and wisdom that all things in the universe naturally possess. It exists not only in living beings but also in inanimate objects and ecosystems, thereby reflecting the complexity and creativity of the universe as a whole.
